Stan the Weatherman*
I was born in Mission, B.C. and grew up in Lacombe and Canmore, Alberta. Lightning, thunder, hail and snow storms were so fascinating that I decided to become a meteorologist. My career with Environment Canada took me to Whitehorse, Yukon for 15 years and then to Blaine, Washington from where I commuted to Vancouver, B.C. Together with my family, I enjoyed hunting, fishing and hiking in the Yukon. Our main recreational activities in Washington State were hiking the Pacific Crest Trail and cross-country skiing.
Hillbilly Olive*
I was born and raised on a ranch in the back hills of Oregon. I enjoyed reading, photography, hiking and nature study. I felt so at peace in the woods, as if it were a magnificent cathedral. I studied recreation and forestry in college and then worked at Alaska Youth Village in Juneau. Stan and I met at Camp Yukon on Atlin Lake. We raised our family in the Yukon before moving to Washington State in 1981. I worked as a Park Ranger and a School Bus/Maintenance Clerk while living in Blaine. It has been a dream of ours to retire and start a B&B in the mountains, so here we are!!
